Junyan Song - New PhD Student at the Department of Theology
Junyan Song will be working on a project that explores how Origen and Iamblichus, two foundational thinkers in their respective traditions, understood the first principle, the cosmos, and the universal scope of salvation.
My name is Junyan Song. My research focuses on theological and philosophical thought in Late Antiquity, especially as developed within early Christian and pagan traditions. At Aarhus University, I will work with Professor Anders-Christian Jacobsen on the project Christian–Neoplatonic Interactions in Late Antiquity: Origen and Iamblichus on the First Principle, Cosmos, and Universalism. The project explores how Origen and Iamblichus, two foundational thinkers in their respective traditions, understood the first principle, the cosmos, and the universal scope of salvation.
My research has appeared or is forthcoming in journals including Classical Philology and Classical Quarterly. I am also the author of Theurgy and Pagan Universalism in Late Antiquity, currently under contract with Cambridge University Press. I look forward to joining the scholarly community at Aarhus.
